an encapsulated crawl space

Encapsulation Process in Charlotte, Denver, Lake Norman, Davidson, & Gastonia

The temperature of the crawl space below your home or office is usually lower than the temperature inside. That is because the crawl space is always shaded and frequently wet. This creates an ideal environment for the growth of mold & mildew, which can lead to structural damage to your property. To get rid of these issues, you can encapsulate your crawl space with a vapor barrier or by sealing the crawl space to protect the area from moisture issues.

The encapsulation process is a matter of creating a barrier between moisture and your crawl space that is impenetrable enough to keep the moisture from seeping into the structure above. At DryWorx, you can rely on our climate control professionals to follow the right encapsulation process when protecting your crawl space in Charlotte, Lake Norman, Gastonia, and other cities we serve in North Carolina and South Carolina. When you need our help, give us a call or click here to book an appointment for crawl space encapsulation services at your home or office within our service area.

A dirty crawl space will lead to a musty odor, unwanted pests, and possibly uneven floors. However, encapsulating your crawl space will help you to get rid of these issues by creating a clean and dry environment for you. Additionally, it also offers benefits that include:

  • Prevents mold and mildew
  • Boosts indoor air quality

  • Increases your property value
  • Lowers the indoor humidity level

Our Crawl Space Encapsulation Process in Charlotte, Gastonia, Lake Norman, Davidson, and Denver

At DryWorx, our experts follow a comprehensive process to encapsulate your crawl space in the Greater Charlotte Area. The process includes these steps:

  • Problem Identification: Because of increased humidity levels inside the property, you may notice that you have problems in your crawl space without ever entering your crawl space. To gauge the extent of the problem and the best solution, however, you need a trained professional from DryWorx. Our experts offer a free inspection to help you with our crawl space issues.
  • Remove Debris: A  crawl space often contains well-worn insulation, torn & ineffective vapor barriers, pests, and moisture. Our crews will remove all of this debris from your crawl space, including eliminating the presence of mold, mildew, and other fungi that may exist. Eliminating mold is especially important because it can cause wood rot that leads to structural damage.
  • Control Ground Water: Groundwater includes water from rain, yard water, or a water level rise that can saturate the ground. This water can seep into your crawl space. If your crawl space has water, we will install a drainage system along with a sump pump to drain the standing water out of your crawl space. This will ensure a dry crawl space.
  • Prevent Moisture: The crawl space is a damp and moist place that can draw up to 15 gallons of moisture a day just from soil alone and have it evaporate into your structure. Our experts will isolate your property from the moist ground with a high-quality vapor barrier. This heavy plastic barrier is resistant to rips and tears and will provide great protection for your crawl space and a more comfortable indoor environment.
  • Seal & Insulate: Outside moisture can create a lot of problems for your indoor environment. To address this issue, we will seal the vent using a solid insulation board covered by spray foam to create an air and moisture barrier. We will seal the access tightly with a door system. This system is weatherproof. It will not rot, warp, or require painting. It is bug-resistant and will not allow water to leak into your property.
  • Insulation: To insulate the foundation walls, we offer 2 ways to do this: spray foam and board foam. Each is detailed below.
  • Spray Foam: An inch-and-a-half of closed-cell spray foam is used to seal the crawl space. This creates a moisture barrier that also is heat resistant.
  • Board Foam Insulation: We install an inch and a half of foam insulation board to create a moisture barrier and heat resistance. This sealing will also prevent air from leaking into your indoor environment.
